Abstract:
This project explores the ‘Ethno’ movement, a growing vibrant community music initiative that fosters intercultural connections and friendships through musical collaboration. The study is motivated by personal experiences and interactions at Ethno music camps, which emphasize peer-to-peer learning and cultural exchange in a unique, informal educational format. By investigating the multifaceted friendships that develop among participants from different regions, in these camps, this research aims to uncover the nuanced dynamics of these relationships and their evolution over time, including potential long-term impacts. Using ethnographic methods, including participant observation, the study aims to highlight the intersections of music, identity, and community in a globalized world, ultimately fostering a deeper understanding of how music camps like Ethno serve as catalysts for social interaction, cultural exchange and lifetime friendships.
